Let’s move forward – and solve the challenges.

3D-LabEq is run by Dr. Marco Grull, a biologist with a PhD and a passion for laboratory automation and entrepreneurship.

How it all began

At a biotech startup, I was responsible for laboratory automation, including work with Opentrons pipetting robots. It quickly became clear that the right accessories were missing and that many parts required full customization to establish complete laboratory workflows. So I started designing the missing parts myself and producing them by 3D printing. My thinking was: if I have this problem, other labs have it too. That is how 3D-LabEq came about.

Our mission

Laboratories often build their workflows around what is commercially available, not around what would be most efficient in terms of cost and time. We turn that around. We want to enable labs to set up and automate their processes as efficiently as possible, with labware that fits their workflow exactly.

Why 3D printing

Injection molding only pays off at tens of thousands of parts, and milling is expensive for one-offs and small batches. 3D printing closes exactly this gap, from prototype to series production. We print in materials commonly used in the lab, such as PLA, PETG, polycarbonate, polypropylene and PMMA.

Independent and passionate

3D-LabEq is self-funded, without investors. Every product is developed from practice, for practice.
